bb

bb is an agentic IDE built around a core idea: the tool itself can be customized, extended, and automated using the same interfaces your agents use. It runs local-first on Apple Silicon Macs, with alpha builds for Windows and Linux, and works with the provider subscriptions you already have.

The multi-agent setup is one of the more concrete differentiators. Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Grok Build, Pi, Cursor, omp, and Hermes all run inside bb simultaneously, each in its own thread. You can assign tasks to whichever model fits, and agents can spawn and manage other agents.

Plugins are first-class. The GitHub integration, agent memory, scheduled jobs, and remote access are all plugins built with the same tools available to you. Ask bb in plain language to bring in your Linear issues and it creates a sidebar panel, a CLI command, and teaches every agent how to use it. That's the whole flow.

Key capabilities:

• Automations can be triggered by shell scripts, cron jobs, bots on Telegram, Signal, or Slack, or any program that calls the CLI. Each spawns a thread that's waiting in your sidebar.
• Worktrees isolate agent work so parallel threads don't step on each other.
• Full customization via plugins, with almost any part of the UI or behavior changeable through a prompt.
• MIT-licensed end to end, so you can fork it, modify agents and tooling, and deploy your own build across an organization.

Because it runs locally and bills through your existing provider plans, there's no bb subscription sitting between you and the models. Cline and Dyad occupy adjacent territory, but bb's self-modifying plugin system and native support for running several agent runtimes side by side sets it apart from single-agent tools.
