Will Be Done is a single-user task manager that plans the whole week instead of just today. Every day is a column, and you drag tasks between them as plans change. It's for people who want a calm, keyboard-driven planner and control over where their data lives.

Missed tasks don't pile up as angry overdue items. They get a quiet yellow marker and stay where you left them until you move them.

  • Local-first: every device holds a full database, so reads and writes never wait on the network, and the app works fully offline.
  • Sync: changes merge field by field after reconnecting, so edits to different fields on two devices both survive.
  • Keyboard-first: Vim keys (h/j/k/l, o/O, space) cover the app, plus a global quick-add shortcut on macOS, Windows and Linux.
  • Projects: kanban boards with columns you define, and separate spaces for work and personal.
  • Recurring tasks, checklists, a Today view and a stash for what you're focused on now.
  • HTTP API: documented with OpenAPI, so scripts or bots can drop tasks into your week.
  • Import: bring projects and tasks from Todoist via API token, or from a TickTick CSV export.

Self-hosting takes one Docker container with SQLite and no external services. The cloud version is free during alpha, then $3 a month. Self-hosting stays free. It's licensed AGPL-3.0 and built with TypeScript and React, with desktop apps and a mobile-ready PWA.

It has limits. There's no team sharing, no time-of-day scheduling, and no end-to-end encryption yet. If you want something closer to a general-purpose to-do app with more features, Super Productivity is worth a look.
