glimpse-hq/glimpseGlimpse types what you say into whatever app you're using, with speech models running on your own computer. It's for people who want dictation without a monthly fee or a cloud server hearing their voice. If you're comparing options, it's a local take on Superwhisper and Dragon.
Press a shortcut, talk, and the words land at your cursor. Dictation is free, has no word limit, and works with every local model.
Privacy is the main draw. Audio and transcripts are saved on your machine and sent nowhere by default. Cloud providers are used only if you add one with your own key. Usage stats are anonymous, never include your words, and turn off with one switch. The code is open under AGPL-3.0, so you can check these claims yourself.
Pricing is simple. The free tier covers unlimited dictation, the dictionary, replacements and history. A one-time license of $39 (or $25 for a single device) adds recording, the library, speaker labels, AI cleanup, Edit Mode and Personalization, with a two-week free trial. A Business plan costs $48 per seat per year and covers paid work.
It's made mostly by one person, and it's used for meetings, lectures, interviews, coding and clinical notes.
