Cloud in a Bottle

Cloud in a Bottle turns a server you control into your own personal cloud. It's for people who want to run web apps without handing their data to a company whose incentives differ from theirs.

Pick where it runs: an old laptop or Raspberry Pi, a VPS from a provider you already trust, or a managed instance from Imbue (from $5/mo). The software is the same on all three.

• One-click catalog: a curated set of open source apps that install like phone apps.
• Your own apps: anything that runs in a container works. Add a small config file and a Dockerfile to your repo, paste the git URL, and it builds and starts at its own address.
• Sandboxed containers: each app runs as an unprivileged user with minimal capabilities. Extra access needs your explicit permission, which helps when you're trying vibe-coded or third-party apps.
• Cross-app services: apps can expose or consume data from each other through a permissioned, decentralized interface.
• Legible data: app data and instance state sit in one organized directory. Export it anytime. A backup and migration app comes pre-loaded.

The stack is small and readable. A Python router handles requests, builds and runs containers, and serves the management dashboard. Updates are one command: pull changes and reload.
