Bruin consolidates what most data teams run as four or five separate tools into one platform. Ingestion, SQL and Python transformations, automated quality checks, column-level lineage, orchestration, and an AI analyst that answers questions in plain English. The core CLI is Apache 2.0 licensed and Git-native, so your pipelines live as plain SQL, Python, and YAML files in your own repository.

It's aimed at data teams who are tired of stitching together a Fivetran + dbt + Airflow + BI stack and paying for each piece separately. Small teams can run it without a dedicated data engineer. Larger teams get a single platform with enterprise controls already built in.

What the platform covers:

  • Data ingestion from databases, warehouses, SaaS apps, cloud storage, APIs, webhooks, and event streams, with no separate ingestion vendor needed
  • SQL and Python pipelines as first-class citizens in the same DAG, sharing lineage and quality checks
  • Automated quality checks defined alongside assets, covering nulls, uniqueness, non-negative values, and custom rules
  • Column-level lineage tracked across every asset in the pipeline
  • AI data analyst that answers questions in Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, WhatsApp, Discord, Telegram, email, and the browser. It reads live schema, metadata, and quality state before generating SQL, so it won't answer from broken or stale data
  • AI dashboards built from a plain-English prompt
  • Scheduled agents that watch pipelines, spending, and schema changes around the clock. They can pause ad campaigns when CPA spikes, catch type changes before they break downstream assets, and backfill after source outages

Bruin connects natively to Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift, Postgres, ClickHouse, DuckDB, MySQL, and SQL Server. Transformations run inside your warehouse; raw data never leaves your infrastructure.

The platform also reads existing dbt models, Airflow DAGs, and LookML definitions, so the AI analyst can answer from your real semantic definitions without requiring a full migration. Teams typically start with one pipeline and expand incrementally.

Security coverage includes ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification, SOC 2 Type 2 attestation, role-based access control, audit logs, SAML 2.0 SSO, AES-256 encryption, VPC peering, and IP allowlisting. Self-hosting on-prem or in air-gapped environments is supported through the open-source CLI. Bruin Cloud is optional and adds the managed AI layer, scheduling, and governance on top.
